It's sheer mass towers above, the Greek mountain range of Parnassus, in winter dusted with snow, in summer a majestic expanse of forest and rock. According to ancient myths, the wild mountains are home not only to Apollo, but also to the nine Olympic muses. Bearing lyre or scroll, they could wander through forest and meadows – and this composer provided them with dazzling robes of sound: Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer, a contemporary of Bach's who hailed from Bohemia and worked as court kapellmeister in Rastatt. He tailored a harpsichord suite for each deity of art, in a French elegant style, ideal for dancing and witty musings.
In this concert, these character pieces are artfully brought to life by Hungarian musician Flóra Fábri, flanked by texts selected by the Deutsches Theater Göttingen and: kissed by the muse. Fill the goblet and let the games begin!
