Long may he live! On February 23, 1685, little Georg was born in Halle (Saale). How fortunate that he followed his early childhood love of music and that today we can celebrate the 340th birthday of an exceptional artistic personality (if his father had had his way, Handel would have become a lawyer). In addition to Handel himself, prominent contemporaries such as Johann Sebastian Bach, who was only a month younger than him, and Georg Philipp Telemann, who was a few years older, also have their say and send musical birthday greetings.

The ensemble freymut is a young ensemble that interprets baroque music with a fresh and light touch. “Freimutig” - or “frankly” - the four young musicians from Vienna combine instrumental virtuosity with artistic curiosity, contrapuntal precision with the joy of improvisation. The ensemble presents Handel, the birthday boy, in the mirror of his time and his contemporaries. A musical joyride.
