“Brilliant! Excellent!” the Londoners would say. “A real promenade concert!” After all, they should be familiar with this kind of music from the Royal Albert Hall: Marches and other hits by their national saints, Elgar and Vaughan Williams, along with some phenomenal classical melodies such as Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Grieg’s Hall of the Mountain King and Offenbach’s Hoffmann Barcarole.

For movie buffs, Hollywood legend John Williams is aboard the excursion steamer for some upscale musical entertainment. And Chief Conductor Nicholas Milton brings the grand finale to a fitting end with Elgar’s first Pomp and Circumstance March – whose Land of Hope and Glory Londoners love almost more than the actual British national anthem ...

Works by Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst and Edvard Grieg
