In Göttingen nimmt er an der Hammondorgel Platz und tut sich mit dem JazzDuo „Shawn and theWolf” zusammen, die mit Posaune und Gitarre immer ein wenig so klingen, als würden sie die Sonne hinter bauschigen Wolken hervorzaubern. Als Trio brechen Körner, Grocott und Meyer mit Händel zu neuen Ufern auf. Das B-Dur-Orgelkonzert schrieb Händel ursprünglich für Harfe, es sollte 1736 das Saitenspiel des Timotheus im Oratorium Alexander’s Feast veranschaulichen. Das mittlerweile vor allem an der Orgel präsentierte vergnügliche Stück befeuert das Trio nun mit funky Vibes. Wem das zu heiß wird: Abkühlung verschafft eine spritzige Improvisation über Händels Wassermusik. Am besten gleich festen Halt verschaffen, sonst könnte es am Ende heißen: George overboard! With stylistic confidence and rhythmic awareness, Gero Körner mediates between musical worlds. The piano keyboard becomes a diplomatic parquet for surprising sonic and cultural encounters. In Göttingen, he takes a seat at the Hammond organ and joins forces with “Shawn and the Wolf”, whose trombone and guitar always sound a bit as if they were magically summoning the sun from behind billowing clouds. As a jazz trio, Körner, Grocott and Meyer break new ground with Handel. The B flat organ concertowas originallywritten byHandel for harp to illustrate the string playing of Timothy in the 1736 oratorio Alexander’s Feast.
